Official OEFFA Organic Certification

What We Grow

Birdsong farm is USDA certified organic by OEFFA (Cert. #1754) and grows only top quality organic produce, herbs, and flowers.

We specialize in greens, including a number of kales, asian greens, chard, spinach, several types of head lettuce, and salad mix. We also grow a lot of root crops such as radish, turnips, beets, several varieties of garlic, and many types of potatoes. And we grow lots of beans, peas, squashes, cole crops, tomatoes, peppers, and much more. We plant quite a few heirloom varieties, especially of tomatoes and squash.

We find that our customers like to cook with fresh herbs, and we grow a full line of culinary herbs to meet that need. These include basil, dill, cilantro, parsley, thyme, oregano, marjoram, lavender, and others. In the past few seasons we've developed a cut flower business, and we produce bouquets of such flowers as rudbeckia, zinnia, snapdragons, tithonia, sunflowers, calendula, digitalis, statice, stock, and others.

Beginning in 2012 we plan to begin work on organic berry production, focusing on raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. This is a bit of a process, and will likely take a few seasons to develop. Stay tuned for that.

You can find a reasonably complete list of what we grow in our CSA information. Just click the CSA link on the homepage. You can also find this list in our profile on the excellent website localharvest.org.
